Hostage crisis in Russia's Astrakhan ends quickly, no one harmed

Russian special services have released the hostages held in the Astrakhan Fishery College in the south of the country. No one was injured, the attacker was arrested, officials said.

On Thursday, March 14^th, at around 2:00 p.m., a young man, who was supposedly armed, took four people hostage - a teacher, a janitor and two minor girls of the Volga-Caspian Fishery College, located in the center of the city of Astrakhan.

During the talks, the attacker demanded he should be provided with food and drinks and promised to release the teacher in return. He kept his promise - the woman was released.

None of the hostages held by the perpetrator was injured. The woman told the police after her release that the hostage taker did not use violence against the four hostages.

During the special operation, the remaining three hostages, who were staying in a school auditorium, were released. The attacker was detained.
