A strict regime colony in Donetsk came under shelling. As a result, one person was killed and 18 were injured; more than 100 prisoners escaped from the colony.

"Late in the evening on August 10, a shell hit the residential area of Penal Colony №124 in the Kirovsky district. One prisoner was killed, three people were injured and 15 others were slightly injured. Headquarters, the substation and the industrial area of the colony were damaged in the shelling. A riot broke out in the colony, and 106 people left the place of detention. As of the morning, some of them returned to the penitentiary institution," a statement on the website of the Donetsk City Council said.

Early in the morning of August 11, the Ukrainian army resumed the shelling of Donetsk. The sounds of explosions were heard in various parts of the city.

The situation in the city remains tense.

According to incoming reports, 34 prisoners have returned to the colony. A significant part of those who escaped from the colony informed the colony administration in telephone calls that they were going to return to the penitentiary institution as soon as the situation stabilizes.
