39 dead, 9 injured in Iran air disaster

Preliminary news reports on the crash of the Sepahan Airlines HESA IrAn-140-100 which crashed three kilometres NNW of Tehran-Mehrabad Airport this Sunday at 09.18 indicate that there are survivors among the 40 passengers and 8 crew members on board.

Flight 5915 was a domestic scheduled passenger flight from Tehran-Mehrabad Airport, destination Tabas Airport. On contact, the aircraft broke up and burst into flames. According to FARS news agency, no people are thought to have survived, while 38 bodies have been recovered. Local sources were reporting "at least" 48 people were deadbut now the official figure is 39 dead and nine injured.
