16 Illegal Oil Refineries Destroyed in Chechnya

Police officers serving in Chechnya destroyed 16 illegal oil rigs and refineries over the last 24 hours. According to the Russian Interior Ministry's temporary press center, 5 gasoline trucks were stopped at local check-points and road-blocks, with authorities confiscating more than 31 tons of illegal petroleum.

The police scoured the Ingush republic's Malgobek district, stopping a gasoline truck, whose driver, a local resident, didn't have any papers allowing him to carry 18 tons of oil inside the truck. (Ingushetia is republic, which borders on Chechnya -- Ed.) A ZIL-131 truck without any license plates was stopped in Chechnya's Tolstoi-Yurt district center. It was driven by a Tolstoi Yurt resident (b. 1974). 8 tons of oil were subsequently confiscated.
