Exhibition Dedicated to the Romanovs Opens in St.Petersburg

The exposition consists of photos and memorial articles connected with the Royal Family
An exhibition "The Romanovs. St.Petersburg. Russia. The Romanovs in photos from collection of the museum" opened in the Military Historical Museum of artillery, engineering and communication troops on Thursday. The press-service of the museum reports that the collection has been kept in the museum reserve for decades and this time it is exhibited for the first time. The exhibition consists of photos made by such authors as Bulla, von Gan and Pyotr Otsup; there are also pictures taken by the Royal Family. Some of the pictures were even autographed by members of the Emperor's family.   

Besides the photos, the exposition also includes memorial articles connected with the Royal Family: a drum on which Russian Empress Maria Fyodorovna was sitting during the manoeuvres on July 16, 1883 (this is written on the drum itself); a spoon with which Nicolas II, then the heir to the throne, tasted food from the dixy of the 2nd battalion; a box with fragments of a carriage and pieces of a uniform taken from the death site of Emperor Alexander II; samples of weapons, including even children's ones; flags and the Royal Colour, also other exhibits.  

In addition, a sculpture made by Carl Faberge's company and presented to Great Prince Vladimir Alexandrovich for his 50th birthday by officers of the Life Guards of the Dragoon Regiment is exhibited for the first time.

The exhibition will be open till the end of the summer. It is dedicated to the 300th anniversary of St.Petersburg, to the 300th birthday of the Military Historical Museum of artillery, engineering and communication troops and to the 390th anniversary of the Romanovs.
