President Traian Basescu will travel to China next week for a three-day visit to strengthen trade and economic ties between the countries, his office said Friday. Basescu was invited by Chinese President Hu Jintao to visit Beijing , and will meet political leaders and attend an economic forum, a statement said. He also will visit Shanghai to open the Romanian-Chinese Economic Forum.
During the March 27-29 visit, Basescu planned to meet with Jintao and China 's top economic official Premier Wen Jiabao. Basescu also planned to give a speech at a Beijing university on relations between the countries after Romania joins the European Union, scheduled for 2007, reports the AP.
