Jordan and Malaysia cooperate to fight against terrorism

Jordan and Malaysia agreed Friday to work more closely to counter problems facing the Muslim world, including terrorism and its effect on the image of Islam. Jordan's King Abdullah II held talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi on a wide range of issues, especially on ways to bring peace and stability to the Middle East, Malaysian Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar said.

Syed Hamid, whose country chairs the 57-nation Organization of the Islamic Conference, did not reveal specific details. But he said Jordan's leader sought bilateral cooperation to tackle issues such as the root causes of terrorism, and to strengthen military and economic ties with Malaysia, the AP reports.

Abdullah arrived in Malaysia after visiting Indonesia, and left later Friday for Pakistan.
