Kuwait on Monday pledged US$100 million to help the victims of the earthquake that hit Pakistan, leveling villages and killing tens of thousands.
Half of the sum will be sent immediately in the form of relief materials, the Cabinet said in a statement after its weekly meeting.
The other half will finance infrastructure repairs under the supervision of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, a government organization in the small oil-rich Persian Gulf state.
Saturday's 7.6 magnitude earthquake also hit parts of India and Afghanistan, but the hardest hit region was in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir.
In the Indian portion of Kashmir, more than 965 people were killed. Four deaths were reported in Afghanistan.
