India meets with Pakistan for peace talks

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will hold talks with Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf in New York on Sept. 14 to review the peace process between the two nations, the Press Trust of India said on Monday.

The meeting will be the first between the leaders since talks in New Delhi in April when they declared the peace process - which has made slow progress - was irreversible and pledged to continue talks to resolve the Kashmir dispute, Reuters says.

The New York meeting will be held on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly conference, PTI quoted Singh as saying in Kabul, at the end of his two-day visit to Afghanistan.
