202 cashed packets discovered at Mexico City's airport

Agents inside the cargo area at Mexico City's airport discovered nearly US$8 million (Ђ6.5 million) in cash tucked inside four boxes that were scheduled to be loaded aboard a flight to Colombia, federal officials said Wednesday.

The mountain of bills totaled about US$7.8 million (Ђ6.3 million), constituting the largest cash seizure in the history of the capital's Benito Juarez International Airport, according to the Public Safety Department, according to the AP.

Officials recovered 202 packets stuffed with cash inside cardboard boxes containing electronic equipment that were fitted with false bottoms. The cargo had been scheduled to leave aboard an Avianca flight from Mexico City to Colombia that apparently included a stopover in Panama.
