Estonian police chief fired after alleged misuse of police vehicles

Estonia's top police official resigned after a long dispute over the alleged misuse of police vehicles to transport the parents.

Interior Minister Kalle Laanet said police chief Robert Antropov agreed that resignation was "the only right solution in the current situation".

Over the past months, Antropov has been under heavy pressure from the government and the Estonian press after it became evident that he misused a police vehicle to transport his parents on a private trip on the island of Saaremaa.

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Andrus Ansip said "trustful co-operation" was longer no possible with Antropov, the AP reportad.
