Two ethnic Albanians arrested over terrorist attack

Macedonian police arrested two ethnic Albanian individuals in connection with the last month's dynamite attack on a police station in the city of Skopje.

Police spokesman Goran Pavlovski said two men - aged 19 and 20 and identified only by their initials - were detained Monday on terrorism-related offenses and possession of illegal weapons. They have been remanded in custody for 30 days, The AP reported.

No one was injured in the blast on July 15 that badly damaged the Bit Pazar police station and shattered windows of a dozen nearby shops in a predominantly ethnic Albanian area of downtown Skopje.

Macedonia, a tiny Balkan nation, has been struggling to maintain its stability since the end of an uprising by ethnic Albanians in 2001.
