New Georgian authorities confirm former foreign policy priorities

Georgia's acting President Nino Burdzhanadze says that Georgian foreign policy aims at strategic partnership with the USA and NATO membership.

"We haven't changed our political course chosen ten years ago: the membership in the European Union and NATO and strategic partnership with the USA," Nino Burdzhanadze said in Maastricht hosting the 11th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

She made this statement before the meeting with US Secretary of State Colin Powell in Maastricht on Tuesday.

Burdzhabadze confirmed Georgia's striving for equal partnership with Russia and the USA.

"All will depend on Russia's position; it hasn't expressed its attitude to this idea yet," Nino Burdzhanadze said.
