Iran is considering purchasing Russian Tu-204 planes, the information department of the Iranian Embassy in Moscow said.
"In accordance with Iranian government's decision to renew the country's aviation fleet, the Ministry of Roads and Transport sent highly skilled experts to Russia to consider the possibility of purchasing Tu-204 planes," said the embassy. The head of the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization, Haj Ali Fard, led the group.
The delegation conducted negotiations in four working groups: planning and managing, technical issues, designing and using.
"Each group consists of highly skilled specialists, including aviation engineers, experienced pilots and experts in air navigation," the embassy said. "These specialists will discuss the technical possibilities and flight characteristics, as well as other peculiarities of the Tu-204 plane in detail." The Iranian specialists visited aviation enterprises in Ulyanovsk and Perm, familiarized themselves with the production process of the plane and talked with the heads of each enterprise. The Iranian pilots and flight engineers made flights on the T-204 plane "to professionally assess the merits of this plane, which is a new generation TU vehicle," said the embassy.
