Alexander Losyukov: No breakthrough happened at Beijing talks

Participants in the six-party get-together in Beijing agree to go on with the negotiations on the North Korean nuclear problem, Russian chief delegate and Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Losyukov said.

According to him, no breakthrough has taken place at the "uphill talks", though the exchange of opinions has been "very useful" and helped to "reach the understanding that work should be continued." Intentions to go on with the talks were also emphasized during a conversation between the six delegations and Tang Jiaxuan, Vice-Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China held on Friday after the talks in Beijing.

"Thus, as we understand the talks should be continued and agreement on a date and a possible place for the next round of talks will be reached through diplomatic channels", the Russian deputy foreign minister said.
