Uzbekistan-Russia relations rely on long-term strategic cooperation

A new Russian Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary in Uzbekistan, Farit Mukhametshin, has handed in the credentials to Islam Karimov, President of Uzbekistan. Speaking up at the ceremony, Islam Karimov said that relations between the two countries are entering a new phase and Moscow and Tashkent are facing the goal of elevating cooperation to a "new level", RIA Novosti was told by the Uzbek presidential apparatus.

For that, the scope of trade-economic contacts should be brought in keeping with the existing capabilities, said the Uzbekistan president.

Russian-Uzbek relations are based on the principles of long-term strategic cooperation. Its expansion is promoted by the trustworthy relations between the leaders of the two countries, stressed the office of the Uzbek president.
