Ilkham Aliyev promises to continue his father's economic policy

Ilkham Aliyev, who was appointed Prime Minister of Azerbaijan earlier in the day, has promised to continue his father's economic policy.

The economic policy pursued by President Heidar Aliyev must be continued, Aliyev's son told journalists on Monday. He added that it was also necessary to "broaden experience and increase potential in this sphere." Ilkham Aliyev, who has sufficient economic knowledge, is getting ready to analyze the economic situation anew so as to outline further steps in the country's economic policy. Azerbaijan has to become an economically strong and powerful state, he stressed.

He also said there would be no dramatic changes in the government structure. "I am not a supporter of radical movements of any kind," he emphasized. "I think everything must be done little by little."
