NATO General Secretary discusses Georgia-NATO relations in Tbilisi

The programme Individual partnership with NATO was one of the most important topics of discussion when NATO General Secretary George Robertson met representatives of the Georgian leadership in Tbilisi yesterday.

As a Rosbalt correspondent reports, Georgian Security Council Secretary Tedo Djaparidze told journalists that the programme will help Georgia to protect itself from terrorism and possible aggression from neighbouring countries. He also emphasized that this new form of cooperation between Georgia and NATO will make it easier to achieve economic objectives.

The programme Individual partnership with NATO includes 29 clauses or obligations and was specially designed by NATO experts. The Georgian government must meet all of these obligations. The programme is expected to facilitate greater integration between Georgia and NATO.
