Adnan Pachachi has arrived in Baghdad from Dubai, an Arab electronic Internet newspaper Alefiyah reports. According to the paper, the candidacy of Adnan Pachachi for the post of the head of the Iraqi provisional government is supported by the heads of Arab States, by the UN Secretary General and by the majority of political parties in Iraq.
Adnan Pachachi, 80, has returned to Iraq after spending 33 years in exile. In the past he was the Foreign Minister of Iraq and represented his country at the UN for two terms. Since 1971 he was a political adviser to the president of the United Arab Emirates and was granted citizenship in that country. In February he formed an opposition Block of Independent Democrats of Iraq.
In the near future Adnan Pachachi will take part in a meeting of the leading committee of the united opposition devoted to forming an interim Iraqi administration, a representative of the Democratic party of Kurdistan Hoshyar Zebari said.
