USA Does Not Believe Rumours That Hussein Refuges in Russian Embassy in Baghdad

George Bush's administration believes that the assertions by some mass media that Saddam Hussein was possibly given refuge in the Russian embassy in Baghdad are mere rumours. Official spokesman for the US Department of State Richard Boucher told reporters about it.

According to him, he has never seen anything that could confirm such rumours. I think that these are only rumours in the press, said the spokesman for the Department of State.

On Wednesday, the Western mass media expressed suppositions that Saddam Hussein could refuge in the Russian embassy in Baghdad. The Russian Foreign Ministry has flatly refuted this. "Such statements do not and cannot correspond to reality," stated official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Yakovenko.
