Moscow and La Paz intend to develop mutually profitable relations. Mayors of the Russian and Bolivian capitals Yuri Luzhkov and Juan del Granado signed a protocol of cooperation between the two cities on Monday. The document will create a legal basis and define main directions of developing contacts between the capitals.
In particular, it envisages intensifying trade and economic, investment, scientific and technological interaction, as well as developing contacts between Moscow and La Paz market participants. The parties intend to exchange experience and information on different spheres of city governing and housing. A separate clause of the protocol is devoted to expanding cooperation in culture, preserving cultural and historic heritage, as well as in sports, tourism and education.
Moscow is interested in developing cooperation with La Paz, first of all in food industry, transport, city economy, modern urban technologies, Luzhkov stressed.
In 2001 the trade volume between Moscow and Bolivia amounted to $49.1 thousand. Moscow supplied Bolivia with rubber pneumatic tyres, and imported fruit, nuts and pasta.
