Joint Russian-Georgian projects in sphere of industry and high technologies are being drafted

In the course of three months, four or five joint Russian-Georgian projects will be determined in the sphere of industry and high technologies. Russian Minister of Industry, Science and Technologies Ilya Klebanov told RIA Novosti about it on Friday. He commented on the results of the session of the Russian-Georgian commission on economic cooperation that took place on July 4 and 5.

According to the minister, a group of Russian experts will be sent to Georgia in the near future to study the proposals of the Georgian side. Ilya Klebanov underscored that Georgia possessed a good scientific basis which can be used in joint projects.

The next session of the commission will be held in 2003 in Tbilisi. The heads of the commission from the Russian and Georgian sides have agreed to hold working meetings once in three months. At the first such meeting "four or five pioneer joint projects will be chosen," pointed out Ilya Klebanov.

He also said that within the framework of the commission's activity, an agreement is being drafted on cooperation between Russia and Georgia in the sphere of the power industry. "In the sphere of energy we should go over from the work on the basis of contracts to the work at the level of agreements between the Ministries of Energy of Russia and Georgia," said Yury Klebanov.
