Ivanov and Powell discuss timetable for US-Russian meetings

RIA Novosti learnt in the Russian Foreign Ministry's Press Department on Monday that Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov and US Secretary of State Colin Powell had held a telephone conversation to discuss a timetable for future bilateral meetings. The two foreign policy heads will meet as part of the regional ASEAN forum in Brunei at the end of July and at the next session of the UN in New York.

The two men discussed the situation in the Middle East during their conversation, above all, in the context of joint efforts to overcome the crisis and resume the negotiating process.

Moreover, Ivanov and Powell expressed their mutual satisfaction with the results of the G-8 summit in Canada, and also the bilateral meeting held between Presidents Putin and Bush within the framework of the summit.
