Slavonic Academy of Education established in Tiraspol

A two-day international scientific congress named "Slavonic Pedagogical Council" was concluded on Saturday in Tiraspol, the capital of the self-proclaimed Transdniestrian Republic in Moldova. Russians make up majority of the Transdniestrian Republic's population.

More than 500 representatives from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and other CIS states took part in the congress. They discussed the idea to establish a united Slavonic scientific and educational space. Their statement addressed to presidents, governments, legislators, and general public of the Slavonic states and international organizations and adopted by the congress participants contains the appeal to support this idea. A hope is expressed that its implementation would be "a significant contribution into the Slavonic revival." As the first step, the "Slavonic Academy of Education" was established on the basis of the Tiraspol University. A Russian scientist was elected President of the academy, and a representative of the Ukrainian Academy of Pedagogical Sciences was elected its vice-president.
