American pilots found guilty for killing Canadian servicemen in Afghanistan

American pilots have been found guilty of killing four Canadian servicemen in Afghanistan on April 18th. American and Canadian commissions came to such a conclusion. That day, two US F-16 bomber-fighters attacked Canadian positions mistaking them for the Taliban lines.

American and Canadian experts believe that in that case, the use of force was ungrounded.

General Michael DeLong, a Deputy Commander, USCENTCOM, stated at a press conference in Florida that one pilot dropped a 250-kg laser-guided bomb on the Canadians without an authorisation. At that moment, the Canadian troops assigned to the international anti-terrorist force were carrying out a night training mission. The air attack left four Canadians dead; another eight soldiers were wounded.

In compliance with the American legislature, the American pilots can be handed over to a court martial.
