Pakistan and Russia are actively working on a draft agreement on the extradition and joint fight against drug dealing and terrorism, the News newspaper informed on Tuesday.
According to the newspaper, Russia's main aim is to reduce the trafficking of drugs /heroin and hashish/ to the country from Pakistan. Due to efforts by government and law enforcement bodies, supported by the strict legislature and cooperation with international organisations, growing of poppies in Pakistan was practically eradicated. However, the transit of drugs through Pakistan from Afghanistan continues.
An issue of the agreement signing with Russia was raised in September last year, after the disruption of diplomatic relations with the Taliban and categorical affiliation of General Pervez Musharraf Government to the anti-terrorist coalition. However, the document was not signed due to the disagreement on the issue, concerning the form and core of the document.
At the present moment Pakistan is ready to sign only a protocol on intentions, by having alluded to a lingering consideration of the document by the Ministers Cabinet. Meanwhile, Russia insists on a full-scale agreement.
After it turned out that Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov included the Fonbet betting company in the list of backbone enterprises that can count on state support, everyone started talking about these bookmakers.
