Nursultan Nazarbayev said Kazakhstan would fully support Shanghai Cooperation Organisation

Kazakhstan will fully support the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) so that "it could contribute to security, economic prosperity and closer relationship between our people and countries," said on Friday Kazakhstan's president Nursultan Nazarbayev in St. Petersburg that hosted a SCO summit.

Security, economic prosperity and humanitarian cultural cooperation were the three key issues discussed at the summit, Nazarbayev said. However, security is today a priority, he stressed.

Kazakhstan's president compared the SCO summit with the summit held in Alma-Ata in June, which gathered "India, Pakistan, Israel and Palestine round the table." However, Nazarbayev believes "the SCO has a better structure and mechanism." In the end Nararbayev congratulated all those present at the summit on the final success. He also thanked Vladimir Putin and St. Petersburg's government and wished the city "we all love a happy 300-anniversary celebration".
