Chinese President convinced in Shanghai Cooperation Organisation prospects

Chinese President Jiang Zemin told journalists after the signing of the SCO documents that he is convinced in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation prospects.

According to him, the summit in St. Petersburg successfully fulfilled the agenda and gave the expected results.

This summit was important and timely, especially with the account for great recent changes in international and regional situations, Jiang Zemin noted. The SCO leaders summed up the results of the SCO annual work, outlined the plan of future development, coordinated standpoints and signed important documents, the Chinese President stressed.

According to Jiang Zemin, the creation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation is our historic choice, which we have made, taking into account common interests for the purpose of the consolidation of good-neighbourly relations, cooperation, regional security and international stability.
