RUSSIAN FOREIGN MINISTER TO TAKE PART IN 56th UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY SESSION IN NEW YORK

Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov is going to take part in the 56th UN General Assembly (GA) session to be held at the level of foreign ministers in New York on November 10-16. Ivanov said this in Shanghai Friday during the meeting with his South Korean colleague Han Seung-soo who will preside at the upcoming UN General Assembly session. According to the RIA Novosti correspondent, the ministers' part of the session was put off from late September to November because of the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington. The Russian foreign minister positively appraised the state and prospects of bilateral relations with the Republic of Korea, saying that the sides worked actively to implement the agreements achieved during Vladimir Putin's visit to Seoul. Ivanov accentuated the importance of Moscow-Seoul permanent contacts on the Korean settlement, on global problems, new threats and challenges, and the Asian-Pacific issues.
