Belarussian Parliament Approves Appointment Of Gennadi Novitski As Prime Minister

The parliament of Belarus has approved appointment of Gennadi Novitski, 52, as prime minister. Gennadi Vasilievich Novitski, Belarus, was born in 1949 in Mogilev. In 1971 graduated form the Belarussian Polytechnical Institute as building engineer. In 1988 graduated from the Academy of Social Sciences under the central committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. After the institute worked as a foreman, sector chief at a construction department of a building trust in the city of Mogilev. In 1974-1977 -- chief engineer at the construction department of the Mogilev building trust. In 1977-1981 -- instructor at the construction department of the Mogilev regional committee of the Belarussian communist party. In 1981-1985 -- chief engineer of the Mogilev regional inter-farm building organisation. In 1985-1988 -- chief of the building department of the Mogilev regional party committee. In 1988-1994 -- board chairman of the Mogilev regional rural building organisation. In 1994-1997 -- Architecture and Building Minister of Belarus. In 1997-2001 -- Deputy Prime-Minister of Belarus. Since October 1 Novitski has been acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus.
