Blair: First Raids On Afghanistan Successful

British Prime Minister Tony Blair has described as successful Sunday's raids on military targets in Afghanistan. According to him, some 30 military facilities were hit, including some of Osama bin Laden's terror training camps and key military infrastructure of the Islamic fundamentalist Taliban regime. Speaking before Parliament on Monday, Blair pointed out that the campaign launched by the U.S. against terrorism has the support of many countries. He praised Russia's blatant condemnation of terrorism, and expressed his appreciation for the backing offered by China, Japan, and some of the Arab nations. The British Premier emphasized once again that the effort was not against the Muslim world, but against bin Laden and the Taliban regime, harboring the man and his terrorist network, al Qaeda. According to Blair, all attacks against Afghanistan are carefully targeted to avoid casualties among the country's civilian population.
