Pakistani President Has Majority Backing: Ambassador

President Pervez Musharraf enjoys public majority support, said Iftihar Murshed, Pakistani Ambassador to Russia, as he was commenting anti-presidential risings in several cities. The President had seven conferences with leaders of political parties, student leagues and religious organisations to inform them about governmental stances on US-British anti-terror action in Afghanistan. The conferees offered support to the head of state. Extremists alone are against the action--and they account for a mere 10% of the Pakistani population, or 15%, at most, reassured the diplomat.
