Russia Fulfils Obligations To Dismantle Its Military Base In Abkhazia

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has informed the Cabinet's members that on November 3 Russia finally, de-facto fulfilled its obligation to dismantle its [military] base in Abkhazia." (Abkhazia is a self-proclaimed autonomy within Georgia). The President noted that "work to this effect which was started by Boris Yeltsin in Istanbul in 1999 where he signed the appropriate document has been finished." Now only Russian peacekeepers remain in Abkhazia who continue to perform their duties.
