On Tuesday, Russia and India signed a memorandum on construction of a nuclear power plant in Kudamkulan by Russian specialists. According to a RIA Novosti correspondent, Deputy Prime Minister Ilya Klebanov said this Tuesday. According to him, the negotiations with Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who arrived in Russia on an official visit, resulted in an agreement to construct two other nuclear power plant blocs in India to a total cost of $2.6 billion. Klebanov emphasised that the corresponding contract would be signed this year. Klebanov added that the project was being implemented in the IAEA auspices, therefore "contained nothing at odds with international obligations." Klebanov also told journalists that Moscow and Delhi were planning to finally agree on the terms of the draft contract to sell the Admiral Gorshkov aircraft carrier to India.
