Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia, General of the Army Anatoly Kvashnin will fly to Brussels in the morning on Tuesday to participate in a one-day meeting of the Joint Permanent Military Committee (JPMC) Russia-NATO, which is to be held at the level of the Chiefs of General Staffs, a spokesman for the Russian Defence Ministry said. According to him, at the JPMC meeting attention will be paid to discussing the state and prospects of development of relations between Russia and NATO. The questions of deepening cooperation between Russia and NATO in the fight against international terrorism, in strengthening the regime of non-proliferation of mass-destruction weapons, and in improving interaction during the peace-keeping operations in the Balkans will also be considered. It is possible that the participants in the meeting will also consider the course of the anti-terrorist operation in Afghanistan and ways to deepen interaction between Russia and its NATO partners - participants in the anti-terrorist coalition in destroying the terrorist groups in that country.
