Kazakh President: CIS Member States Should Maintain Mutual Understanding

The present-day priority for the CIS member states is to preserve mutual understanding they have been seeking for the past years. The European Union can only dream of such trustful relations which have been built up within the Commonwealth. President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan said as much upon his arrival in Moscow for the jubilee summit of the Commonwealth due on November 30. Nazarbayev also stressed that now that they have strengthened their independence, the CIS states are interested in further integration within the Commonwealth. Kazakhstan, he stressed, advocates further integration within the CIS, which played a crucial role in the post-Soviet development of the independent states.
