Pakistani Authorities Detained 28 Foreign Militants Of Al-Qaeda

Pakistani border guards detained 28 foreign militants of the al-Qaeda terrorist organisation in the Beluchistan province, reported Frontier Post newspaper on Monday. The arrested were citizens of Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Turkey and Albania. Representatives of the Pakistani authorities declared that there had been no request from the US so far to extradite the militants. Their fate will be solved when "appropriate consultations and negotiations will be held with all the parties concerned, the sources at the law-enforcement bodies point out. After the surrender by the Taliban of Kandahar the Pakistani authorities enhanced the border protection by transferring there additional army units, armoured vehicles and helicopters. But it is impossible to fully close the border taking into account the intricate geographical landscape. Observers believe that a lot will now depend on the solution of the elders and chiefs of Pashtun tribes who live along the border -- to extradite foreign militants or give them asylum.
