Peace will be established in Afghanistan only provided there is no foreign interference with the country's internal affairs, said Afghan Ambassador to Tajikistan Sayed Ibrakhim Hikmat who spoke at a round table on results of the Bonn Conference on Afghanistan. According to the ambassador, "the Afghans have tried to agree many times, but outside pressure prevented them from doing so." The ambassador expressed his hope that "the countries, which organised the conference in Bonn, will not pursue their selfish goals in the post-Taliban Afghanistan, but give the necessary political support to its provisional government in establishing peace and national accord in Afghanistan." Vladimir Andrianov, the first secretary at the Russian Embassy in Tajikistan, who was present at the round table, said that the Bonn conference is not the decision making body on the future of Afghanistan, but just a transitional mechanism and the first step towards peace. The Russian diplomat added that Afghanistan would have to go a long way before peace is established in this country.
