US Vice President Richard Cheney is expected Tuesday to meet Sergei Stepashin, Chairman of Russia's Audit Chamber, who is currently on a visit to Washington. The purpose of the visit has not been officially announced as yet. However, it is known that Stepashin's agenda includes a meeting with David Walker, Comptroller General and head of the US General Accounting Office, the leadership of the House Committee on Financial Services and of the Senate Banking Committee, and the top of the US-Russian Business Council. Stepashin's talks with Cheney are highly likely to unfold as a video conference, for the location of the US Vice President has been kept secret since the September 11 events for security reasons, and all his meetings with foreign officials in Washington are held via video communication. Stepashin's visit to the USA will last for several days. On Wednesday he is scheduled to meet reporters.
