Russian Government Delivers Humanitarian Aid To Afghanistan

On the instructions of the Russian government, aircraft from the ministry of emergency situations have begun delivering humanitarian aid to Bagram air base, 20km to the Northeast of Kabul. On-board the two IL-76 aircraft were 50 tons of sugar for the Afghan population. An official statement released by the emergencies ministry said one aircraft had already landed at Bagram, and a second is expected very soon. Earlier rice and flour had been sent to Afghanistan, also on IL-76 emergencies ministry aircraft.
