Taliban Abandons Its Last Cities - Kandahar And Spinbaldak

Hamid Karzai, the head of the Afghan provisional government, stated on Friday that Taliban troops had started leaving the cities of Kandahar and Spinbaldak, which is located 7 km away from the Pakistani border. The mountainous region of Tora Bora in the Nangarhar province is totally controlled by anti-Taliban forces. According to the Saudi SPA news agency, Karzai added that Taliban troops surrendered to commissions, which included elders of local Pashtun tribes and former mujaheddin field commanders. He also stated that Mullah Mohammad Omar, the spiritual leader of the Taliban movement, would face trial only if his involvement in terrorism was proved.
