Cis Economic Council To Hold 10th Session In Moscow December 10

The 10th session of the Economic Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) will be held in Moscow December 10. The press service of the CIS executive committee reported that upon the completion of the session Economic Council members will take part in the opening ceremony of the interstate exhibition devoted to CIS jubilee on the territory of the main exhibition centre of Moscow. At the forthcoming session the Economic Council is expected to consider a draft agreement on mutual assistance in case of accidents or other emergencies at electric-power facilities of CIS member-states. The activity of the Council of Heads of CIS Customs Services to implement provisions of the Agreement on Setting Up a Free Trade Zone and protocol thereto are also expected to be discussed. Moreover, the issue of establishing a Coordination Council for Informatisation at the regional commonwealth in communications will also be considered. Participants in the session will also discuss draft convention on the legal status of migrant workers and members of their families, citizens of the CIS states; financing in 2002 of the interstate programme for rehabilitation of war veterans, participants in local conflicts and terror victims for 2001-2005; alteration of the principal of VAT levying in mutual trade of the CIS states; expenditures for creation of a unified air defence system of the CIS countries for 2002; and a draft concept of coordinated agrarian policy. The CIS Economic Council has been functioning since 1999 and comprises deputy heads of government.
