Central Asia needs anti-drug centre

Kazakhstan has suggested that an anti-drug centre be set up in Central Asia.

The initiative was voiced by President Nursultan Nazarbayev at the summit of the Central Asian Cooperation Organisation, TsAS, in Astana on Friday, the president's press service reported.

Kazakhstan "initiates the creation of an international anti-drug centre and suggests the region's states become its co-founders," he said.

TsAS member states - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan - need to focus their cooperation on three priority aspects: strengthening national borders, counteracting international terrorism and fighting against drug dealing, the president believes.
