Russian expert on NATO's minimal contribution into counter-terrorism

Vadim Razumovsky, the director of the Moscow Institute of Applied International Research, believes that NATO's contribution into the war against international terrorism, declared by the United States after September 11th, 2001, turned to be minimal.

The year, which followed the notorious terrorist attacks on the USA, has shown "NATO's inability to give an adequate response to contemporary threats", Vadim Razumovsky said at an international conference on the prospects of Russia-NATO cooperation.

Nevertheless, NATO remains an important international military security structure for Russia. It implies the necessity of further consolidation of political dialogue within the Russia-NATO Council, the political scientist said. He believes that "real military cooperation" should contribute to Moscow-Brussels dialogue.
