Russia's Baltic Fleet, Swedish Navy to Have Joint Manoeuvers

Today, the Baltic Fleet of Russia received a group of Swedish naval officers headed by Brigadier General Bengt Anderson, Deputy General Inspector of Swedish Navy. Besides staff officers, the delegation includes a number of submarine personnel, and the CO of the Belos rescue ship.

According to the press service of the Baltic Fleet, the Swedish delegation will take part in a conference to discuss suggestions as to the participation of the two navies in joint manoeuvers. The delegation of the Baltic Fleet at the conference is headed by Rear Admiral Vladimir Andreyev.

The joint manoeuvers will be conducted under the ongoing programmes for the strengthening of cooperation on seas and mutual confidence signed by the Defence Ministers of the two countries in April this year. Both parties agree that the most promising scenario is assisting a submarine in distress.
