Pentagon: US vessels gather intelligence off Russian coast

The Pentagon authorities admitted that the US Oceanographic Research vessels gather intelligence data off the Russian coast.

High-rank Pentagon representative told Foxnews that such vessels are certainly present off the Russian coast and wondered whether they think that they study whales there.

Washington Times reported earlier that the American military intelligence keeps under surveillance the Russian Navy vessel "Yantar", which is not far from the US coast. The surveillance is carried out with the help of military ships, aircraft, and space satellites.

The American military believes that the Russian vessel gathers intelligence data on the underwater sensors and other equipment, being used by the American submarines based in Kings Bay, Georgia.

Pravda.Ru reported that Russia and China carried out joint drills in spring 2015 in the Mediterranean, which the NATO kept a close eye on.
