Moscow hails India's decision to withdraw its troops from Indian-Pakistani border

Moscow has reacted with great satisfaction to New Delhi's decision to withdraw its troops from the Indian-Pakistani border, as well as to Islamabad's similar reaction. This was disclosed here today at the Russian Foreign Ministry's information-and-press department.

Such reciprocal moves, which aim to scale down South Asian tensions, highlight goodwill on the part of Indian and Pakistani leaderships, as well as their responsibility and a striving to normalize relations between the sub-region's two biggest countries, Moscow believes.

Russia consistently advocates the comprehensive solution of problems in relations between these countries through resumed bilateral political dialogue in the spirit of Lahore accords and the Simla agreement, officials at the information-and-press department stressed.
