Sibneft Spokesman Comments on Russian-European Cooperation in Energy Sector

Russian oil companies may successfully cooperate with the countries of the European Union in the fuel and energy sector, press secretary of Sibneft Alexey Firsov said in an interview with RosBusinessConsulting. The company's spokesman was quoted as saying over the past decade Russian oil and gas companies have become active participants of the European energy market and currently compete with international companies. The experience of Russian companies operating on the European market shows that Russia and member states of the European Union may cooperate in this field, and this dialogue needs to be developed and reinforced in the future, Firsov pointed out.

The company's press secretary was quoted as saying one of the examples of such dialogue is the economic summit of Russia and Europe 'New Outlooks of Investment Cooperation' that will be held on November 12-17, 2002 in Amsterdam by RosBusinessConsulting. The primary goal of this forum is expanding and reinforcing long-term foreign economic relations. Firsov stressed that it was at such meetings that investors had the opportunity to have a close look at investment projects, clear up all the issues they were facing and establish promising business contacts.
