Presentation of North-Western Federal District to Be Held in Germany, November 19-22

A presentation of the North-Western Federal District will be held in three German cities, Berlin, Dusseldorf, and Hamburg from November 19 through 22. This is according to the statement made on Monday at St. Petersburg's International Press Centre by Lyubov Sovershayeva, Deputy Plenipotentiary of Russia's President in the district, the head of the committee organising the presentation. She said, the presentation would be attended by Viktor Cherkesov, President's Plenipotentiary in the district; Sergei Frank, Russia's Minister of Transportation; and Vladimir Yakunin, his first deputy. Also in attendance will be representatives from the administrations of 11 regions of Russia's Northwest and industrialists and entrepreneurs, including Alexei Mordashov, head of the Severstal Group steel holding company.

Mrs. Sovershayeva said the principal objective of the presentation was attracting the attention of German business people to the investment potential existing in the leading industries of the North-Western Federal District and a demonstration of opportunities for cooperation. The leaders of the leading companies if the region will also make their presentations. These include Severstal and Ammofos of the Vologda Region.

She also said that the presentation would make an emphasis on the development of Northwestern seaports, including Petrolespoert, Ust-Luga, and the Large Seaport of St. Petersburg. A special exhibit will demonstrate tours to and around St. Petersburg and other cities of Russia's Northwest. While the presentation continues, an economic conference entitled 'Germany and the Regions of Russia', a roundtable 'The Economic Potential of Russia's Northwest: the Prospects of Development', and a number of other events will be held.
