Kirghizia officially celebrates November 7th as Great October Revolution Day

In Kirghizia, November 7th is celebrated as an official "red-letter" holiday, the Day of the Great October Revolution.

The Kirghiz parliament took the decision last February. In sovereign Kirghizstan the holiday is marked for the first time.

According to RIA Novosti, no popular demonstrations and festivals are planned in Kirghizia.

Only the Communist Party of Kirghizia has held an official function on this occasion. Kirghiz communists, led by their leader Absamat Masaliev, former first secretary of the Communist Party of the Kirghiz SSR, laid wreaths to Lenin's monument on the central square of Bishkek, Ala-Too.

Journalists' Day is also marked in Kirghizia on November 7th.
